Kirsty & Andrew’s Relaxed Scottish Wedding
I must admit that I’d been looking forward to Kirsty and Andrew’s wedding ever since their pre-wedding shoot. They had chosen to travel to have their photoshoot with me in Amsterdam and despite being on crutches I had a wonderful time getting to know them. They are a lovely couple and I was so excited to travel to Scotland for their wedding.
Altskeith Country House Scotland
Kirsty and Andrew are both Scottish and had chosen to get married at Altskeith Country House in Kinlochard, part of the picturesque Trossachs area. The wedding ceremony was outdoors under a tree with a gorgeous backdrop of Loch Ard and it’s surrounding pine forests. I loved how personal the ceremony was, Kirsty and Andrew tied a knot in their family tartan to symbolise their joining together and they both struggled to keep their emotions under control as they read their personalised vows.
Sometimes weddings can feel a little hectic with so much squeezed into the day but Kirsty and Andrew deliberately kept the timings really relaxed. It gave them more time to spend with their family and friends and meant that everyone could enjoy the location. There was even time for frisbee throwing and a game of football for the boys!
And of course, with such a beautiful location we had to make the most of it for some portraits so the three of us sneaked off for some quiet time alone by the loch. The shingle shores, wooden jetties and the view over the water to Ben Lomond were idyllic, a real photographers dream!
Kirsty and Andrew had chosen the location for the stunning views and so the families could have a mini holiday. Since this was my first visit to Scotland I decided to do the same. I planned some extra days into my visit and spent some time walking, exploring and relaxing in a log cabin. It’s a rare treat for a wedding photographer to take some time out in the season and I enjoyed every moment!
