Aynhoe Park Wedding Photography – A Travel & Exploration Themed Day

Sophie & Ryan’s Wedding at Aynhoe Park

I must confess that I was extra excited for Sophie and Ryan’s wedding at Anyhoe Park in Oxfordshire. It’s not the first time I’ve photographed a wedding here. But it’s such a unique and quirky venue. I seem to discover something different with each visit.

Sophie and Ryan love to travel and explore. Ryan proposed in Rwanda when they were on an 18-month adventure living in a 4×4 and travelling around the world. Can you believe that they managed to do all the wedding organisation and planning while they were on their travels! They may have settled down in Paris after their adventure, but it’s no surprise that they chose to have their wedding at Aynhoe Park, it’s a perfect setting to reflect their love of travelling and exploring.

A Ceremony in the Library of Aynhoe Park

I arrived at Aynhoe the day before the wedding to photograph a small and intimate legal ceremony in the library. Sophie and Ryan had chosen to have just their closest friends and family present, and it was touching to see so much love for the couple in the room.

The Wedding Day Preparations

On the main wedding day I was helped by Jamie Dunn who came along to second shoot. Jamie captured the groom preparations so that I could focus on spending my time with Sophie and the girls. I loved that they had the most gorgeous silky PJ’s to wear while their hair and make up was done. And Sophie was full of French style, she looked fantastic in her Pronovias wedding dress and wore a beautifully simple dried flower crown from Paris with an amazing veil.

St Michael’s Church Aynhoe

As I’ve mentioned this wasn’t my first wedding at Aynhoe Park before, but it was the first time I’ve photographed a ceremony in St Michael’s, a beautiful baroque church next door in the grounds. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed the lovely weather for the reception and were accompanied outdoors by a string quartet. We made the most of the beautiful grounds and the quirky interior for the portraits; there’s something interesting and unique to be seen wherever you look. The venue hugely reflected Sophie and Ryan’s passion for travel.

Despite Sophie’s initial concerns that the day may not well organised (due to doing much of the planning in the African bush!), it was a wonderful day filled with love and laughter.
