Blenheim Palace Wedding – Amy & Nick
A Beautiful Oxfordshire Wedding
Their Story
Amy and Nick were destined right from the start. Fate brought this happy couple together when they attended a mutual friend’s’ Halloween party both dressed as zombies. After a comically fun first meeting, the two became an item and three years later Nick and Amy took a holiday with Amy’s family in Tuscany. The unsuspecting Amy was lured out to a vantage point overlooking the majestic mountains of Tuscany to snap some photos. Much to Amy’s surprise, Nick had hidden a bottle of champagne earlier in the day and popped the question. After savouring a few moments of post engagement happiness, they joined Amy’s family to celebrate their big news!
Our Lady & St. Edmund Of Abingdon
As the planning began, Amy and Nick envisioned a relaxed, rustic party with a touch of modern Tuscan flair. Wedding prep commenced at Amy’s parent’s beautiful new cottage in Oxford. Rustic and comfortable, the beautiful bride, family and friends laughed and sipped champagne whilst being coiffed by the hair and makeup artists. Keeping to the theme of relaxation, the couple chose a beautifully quaint church of Our Lady & St. Edmund Of Abingdon. Built-in the 1850’s, the church features austere and sturdy stonework with vibrant beautifully maintained stained glass. Inside the church proved to be equally dazzling with an abundance of natural light, perfect for picture taking.
Arriving in a vintage cream coloured Ford (coincidentally Amy’s new surname), Amy was flushed with nervous anticipation. I am not sure who was glowing more, Amy or her proud father, Gerry as they walked down the aisle! Amy looked so elegant in her cap-sleeved beauty of a dress and Nick looked dashing in his tail cut styled tux. The service was quaint and personal, with just the right touches of tradition woven within.
Blenheim Palace
The reception was held at the perfectly picturesque, Blenheim Palace located in Woodstock. An impressive family-owned and occupied property, the palace holds a rich history. Originally built in 1704 as a gift to the 1st Duke of Marlborough, John Churchill in celebration for the victory over French in War of Spanish Succession. Amy had admired the palace as a child and her mum has worked there for years. We jumped in a golf buggy and got to work finding all those magical places to take the perfect portrait. At every twist and turn of this massive property was a stone wall, a body of water, a beautifully wrought iron fence or a maze of perfectly groomed shrubbery. We were also blessed with some gorgeous September weather and one very relaxed and comfortable bride and groom.
After all the picture taking it was time to sample the amazing food and start the party! To really relax and warm up their guests, the couple had favours of Limoncello on all tables. The speeches were fun and heartfelt. And boy this group could move! Amongst an amazingly gorgeous white room sparkling with crystal and gold, accented with blue and white flowers, Amy and Nick joyously celebrated their union. The true sparkle rested on the faces of the newly married couple and as Amy said: “This is the best day of my life”.
Any advice to other couples? Simply put, savour each and every moment as time goes by so very quickly! Second, don’t worry about the little things! Everyone is there for you and you will be the only one that notices the little imperfections – let it go!
Congrats you two on a beautiful wedding day and many more happiness to come!
