London Fields Brewery Wedding Vow Renewal

London Weddings

I get so enthusiastic about my rural wedding venues that you could be forgiven for thinking that I prefer countryside to city weddings but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The reality is that I get just as excited for a wedding in the centre of London as I do for one in the heart of the countryside. London has so many varied locations within easy distances of each other and Sarah & James’ wedding was a day of colourful contrasts.

Sarah and James had already married in Sarah’s homeland, Australia. Needless to say not all of their friends could make it but that gave them the perfect excuse to celebrate all over again a year later in London.

Couple Portraits in Victoria Park

The first hints of autumn were in the air as I travelled to Sarah and James’ home where Sarah was getting ready. It was wonderful to see such a relaxed start to the day. Close friends popped for a celebratory drink before the vow renewal and the house was filled with laughter. Since they were already officially married the celebrations didn’t need to follow any of the usual wedding traditions and we were able to head off to Victoria Park for a portrait session before the ceremony. The autumn colours were starting to show on some of the trees and the tones perfectly complimented Sarah’s stunning yellow Chinese dress which she had chosen as a reflection of her heritage.

After the park we strolled along the canal before travelling by rickshaw (a decision inspired by James’ Indonesian travels) to London Fields Brewery for the renewal ceremony and celebrations. This is the second time I’ve shot a wedding at London Fields Brewery (you can see Rachel & Chris’ wedding here).  I love the unique vibe of this hidden gem. With it’s brick railway arches and industrial urban surroundings it couldn’t be more different than the park but still a wonderful setting for photographs.

Wedding Vow Renewal

The celebrations continued amid lots of laughter, Sarah and James renewed their vows on stage and both made funny speeches telling the stories of their romance.  Lots more funny speeches followed with their closest friends all telling stories that filled the room with giggles.

The traditional brick railway arches of the brewery were beautifully decorated creating a unique and cosy atmosphere with a sense that you are nestled away in your own little bubble of celebration. Then every now and again a train passes by and you are reminded that the wonderful character of London is just outside.

Oh I do love a London wedding!
