Emily & Will’s – Sherborne Abbey and Marquee Wedding at Home in Dorset

Their London Engagement Session

My first time meeting the lovely Emily and Will was at their pre-wedding shoot in central London. They had chosen to have the shoot at Middle Temple, it’s a special place for Emily since her parents met there. Despite being in the middle of the city it was closed to the public and it felt like we were in a deserted city!

 

The Wedding Day

The wedding celebrations were taking place in the garden at Emily’s parents’ home, so it made sense for her to get ready there too. It was then just a short drive to Sherborne Abbey for the ceremony. It’s a beautiful and ornate old building and I’m fortunate to have photographed Lou Lou and Ted’s wedding there previously.

Sherborne Abbey felt particularly magical and enchanting, incense swirled around and the air was filled with the beautiful sound of a choir singing. I almost felt like we had stepped back in time as I waited in the historic building for Emily to arrive. Everything about the ceremony felt very special and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed.

Dorset Marquee Wedding

Then it was back to the family home where the weather was perfect for a September marquee wedding, it was bright without being sunny, a photographer’s favourite weather! Emily’s father spent much of the reception carrying two adorable terriers under his arms. They both wore flowers on their collars in honour of the occasion and looked so cute.

The first of the speeches were made by the maid of honour in the garden before the guests moved indoors for the meal. The rest of the speeches were held between courses. I love the random facts that come out in the speeches, the best man couldn’t resist mentioning that Will had won University Challenge.

All through the day, the connection between Emily and Will was so obvious and lovely to witness, it was an absolute pleasure to photograph their special day.
