ST ETHELDREDAS CHURCH, LONDON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
For anyone planning a church wedding in London, I can highly recommend St Etheldreda’s with its beautiful and enchanting interior. Of all the churches I’ve photographed weddings in, St Etheldreda’s is my favourite; it also happens to be the oldest Roman Catholic church in England.

St Etheldredas for your church ceremony
The church boasts a stunning feature, a stained glass window, stone walls that give the interior a warm glow, and acoustics that make the choir sound quite magical. Unusually for a church, the light is beautiful and very photographer-friendly.
THE CRYPT
Another surprise can be found beneath the church, in the form of an exclusive restaurant located in the 600-year-old crypt.
Holding your wedding breakfast in the crypt at St Etheldreda’s Church offers a truly unique and atmospheric experience. Nestled beneath the church, the medieval crypt provides a romantic and intimate setting, with its vaulted stone ceilings, candlelit ambience, and centuries-old charm. The space feels timeless, evoking a sense of sacred tradition and quiet grandeur that perfectly complements the significance of a wedding celebration. Whether you’re hosting a formal sit-down meal or a more relaxed reception, the crypt’s character and history create an unforgettable backdrop for marking the beginning of your life together.

Victoria & Chris
Victoria and Chris held their October ceremony at St Etheldreda’s Church. The light inside felt warm and soft, perfectly complementing Victoria’s bouquet. After the ceremony, a red bus arrived to collect the guests and take them to The Happenstance bar, while I stayed behind with Victoria and Chris to capture some portraits outside the church. We then headed to St Paul’s Cathedral, which provided an epic and timeless backdrop for their photos.
Augusta & Alex
Augusta and Alex held both their ceremony and wedding breakfast at the church, with the reception taking place in the beautiful crypt below. Guests enjoyed drinks outside along the street before heading downstairs for the meal and heartfelt speeches. These two – and their guests – partied hard well into the night!

Ciara & Simon
Alice and Chris had a post-COVID wedding where guests still wore masks during the ceremony—a reminder of the times we’ve all lived through. But once we stepped outside, the celebration truly began. It was more than just a wedding; it was a joyful reunion, a moment to cherish the power of love and community, and a celebration of being able to come together again.
