Richmond Park Engagement Photos
With Catherine and James and an over excited deer!
Richmond Park has to be one of my most favourite places! I visited the park with my parents as a child and it’s the place where my Dad proposed to my Mum. I used to live just down the road from the park whist I was at university and enjoyed having picnics, going for long walks and trying to ride my bike as fast as the other cyclists making their laps around the park!
I always love heading here for a photo session. There are so many amazing locations that provide brilliant backdrops and it always looks different depending on the time of day and season. When Catherine and James asked for recommendations for a location for their shoot, I just had to mention Richmond Park for their engagement photos. They are both originally from New York but now reside in London and had never been to the park before. I really enjoyed sharing my love of the park whilst walking around and getting to know them both before their wedding day.
During the first 10 minutes of shoot we had a bit of excitement, whilst I was happily taking photos, I had left my camera bag (open) about a meter behind me, little did I realise that there was a rather large cheeky deer approaching to check it out for tasty treats. When I turned around the deer had his nose in my bag and was starting to get a little over excited by my Nikon lenses and the prospect of chocolate in one of the pockets! he then started rearing up on his back legs and came crashing down several times in his attempt to search my bag- my lenses went flying close the verge of the water, but fortunately, after what seemed to be the longest 2 minutes of my life, he lost interest and nothing was lost or broken to all our relief. (and yes, I took photos whilst all this was happening- you can see them at the bottom of this post)
At the start of the shoot Catherine and James told me that they were not photogenic and didn’t have any nice images of the two of them together, but this shoot proves that they photograph beautifully and highlights the love these two have for each other!
