Marquee Wedding Hampshire with Hannah & Simon

With four beautiful flower girls, bagpipes, a boat trip on dry land, ceilidh dancing, hilarious speeches and a departure in a Reliant Robin with the whole party out in the rain singing this is certainly one wedding that I will never forget!

The wedding took place at Hannah’s parents’ home in the Hampshire countryside with the ceremony at St Margaret’s Church nearby.

It was a very relaxed wedding day. Although it was a busy start for me as I photographed both the bridal preparations and the ushers’ lunch. Can you believe the guys were getting in some sneaky dancing practice ready for the evening!

Hannah & Simon’s transport from the church back to her family home is definitely the most unique I’ve ever seen. They travelled by sailing boat pulled along by a car and they attracted some attention along the way.

We had a few rain showers during the day but they certainly didn’t dampen the celebrations. The rain didn’t deter us from portraits in the garden under the largest and most beautiful apple tree. After the hilarity of the speeches, it was time for the Ceilidh band and the most energetic dancing I’ve ever witnessed. That practising early in the day certainly paid off and I needed to be pretty light on my feet myself to sidestep the more lively dancers and avoid going flying with my camera.

And then it was time for the departure and what a fantastic departure it was. Simon had arranged a surprise car, a yellow Reliant Robin straight out of Only Fools and Horses! The whole wedding party walked across the field, singing in the pouring rain, to give them a send-off that will never be forgotten. I love staying right until the end of the party for wonderful moments like this!
