Destination Wedding Photography in France
Chateau La Durantie Wedding, Jasmin & Alex
The magnificent Chateau La Durantie in the Dordogne region of France has to be one of my favourite destination wedding venues and I was really excited to return in September for the wedding of the lovely Jasmin and Alex.
Jasmin and Alex live in Guernsey and are originally from Australia. Their families and closest friends had travelled from Australia, Germany and Austria to celebrate with them at Chateau La Durantie.
The Chateau formed a perfect backdrop for the outdoor ceremony which Jasmin and Alex choose to have in both English and German in recognition of Jasmin’s Austrian heritage and their German speaking guests. They also brought a touch of Australia into the day with some Australian flowers in Jasmin’s bouquet. The distinctive beatlenut buds are very beautiful and look more like a seashell than a flower!
After a worrying rainy start to the day the sun came out just as Jasmin was ready to head outside. There was a slight delay so the guests could dry their chairs but then the weather remained perfect and the day was so relaxed with everyone playing games on the lawn before the wedding breakfast in the barn. The fun filled party included a surprise firework display and ended in the way all the best parties do, with everyone letting their hair down on the dance floor.
Amongst all the fun I managed to sneak away with Jasmin and Alex to make the most of that magical golden hour with some romantic portraits in that enchanting landscape.
After they had their photos I asked Jasmin and Alex if they had a favourite, here’s what they came back with:
“We are both in agreement on this. It captures the epitome of the day: the happiness of having married your partner and best friend, in the presence of a close circle of friends and family, at a gorgeous French chateau. Not posed, just that amazing moment.”
Co-incidentally this is my favourite too, in fact I think it’s my favourite ever wedding photo!!
