Southbank Engagement Photography – Remembering London

Southbank Engagement Photography

Southbank London, what more could a photographer want from a location? There are iconic backdrops such as Big Ben, the London Eye, St Pauls, The Tate and Tower Bridge. There’s the brutalist architecture of the National Theatre, wonderful textures, beautiful classic lampposts and pops of colour here and there. Borough Market with its famous railway arches and richly textured brick walls. Water fountains, red buses, bookstalls and pockets of greenery. The photo opportunities are endless, I’m always excited and inspired when couples choose the Southbank for their engagement photography.

London is the adopted home of Brad and Mel, a lovely couple from New Zealand and Australia. They are currently busy planning their wedding in Australia. The wedding may see them moving away, or maybe setting off on a long adventure instead, so they wanted some photographs to celebrate the special times they have shared in London.

I’ve photographed several couples in this area but each time I visit I get such a creative buzz from ensuring each shoot is unique and original. Since Brad and Mel wanted to capture their memories of London we planned our route to make sure we made the most of those iconic locations. Sadly Big Ben is shrouded in scaffolding but with some artistic blur and creative angles, I managed to make sure it was recognisable with the repair work not being too obvious!

The three of us spent a wonderful few hours wandering, chatting, and stopping to make use of the best locations. The light was fantastic as we set out and got better and better until the setting sun shrouded them in a golden glow of light, a perfect way to end our photoshoot.
