Back in October I had the pleasure of second shooting the Amsterdam wedding of Margot and Logan with my good friend Marco, a Dutch wedding photographer whose work I really love. When my own schedule permits I love to second shoot at weddings, it gives me the opportunity to try new things and enjoy the day at more relaxed pace.

Margot and Logan live in the States but decided to travel to Amsterdam for a destination wedding. The Amsterdam Pulitzer Hotel is located between both the Keizersgracht and Prinsengract, two of the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam, it’s a very grand and atmospheric venue and the perfect choice for a late October wedding.

During the preparations, the bridesmaids all received beautiful gifts of leather handbags, each one individually chosen to suit it’s new owner. Marco and myself were very happy to receive the gift of goody bags of sweet treats from both America and Amsterdam, I have a very sweet tooth so spent much of the day on a sugar high!

The ceremony was held in the Saxenburg Room at the Amsterdam Pulitzer Hotel and conducted by Logan’s Dad. It was a beautiful heartfelt ceremony with lots of emotion, especially when one of Logan’s best men gave his speech.

The dancing started early with a wonderful acoustic band in the Saxenburg Galleries, a room with beautiful dark blue wood panelling. During the reception we took a little time away with Margot and Logan to wander the streets of Amsterdam for some portraits. It was such a romantic setting, they looked like they could be the stars of a film!

The wedding day was one long party from start to finish, it was filled with laughter and fun right from the preparations through to the end of the evening when Margot changed into a white jumpsuit and they headed off to a local bar down the road through the heavy rain with guests and themselves waving sparklers in the air.
